Cheerio Charters Review & Editor's Notes

Spearfishing

Spearfishing is perhaps best described as hunting!  It is quite the adventure to suit up and slide below the surface with a spear gun in search of dinner.  Lobster, Grouper Snapper, Jacks, and other deep-water species such as Dolphin, Wahoo and Tuna are great targets to seek out!  This is a complex, physically-demanding adventure that is not for the faint of heart.  Trips do fill up quickly, though, so if this fits your dreams, sign on with Cheerio for a grand time.

Grouper

The Reef and Wreck fishing is a bit of a treasure hunt.  The fish, the treasure, love to hide and the angler's job is to entice them out.  Of course you will have to get them to the boat without the interference of one of the larger predators snagging 'your' fish, but that is part of the fun.  Snapper, Cobia, Permit, Grouper and Sharks are all likely fish to hook on the wrecks or reefs.  These great fishing grounds lie about 15-40 miles off the coast and very in depths from 50-350 feet.

Sailfish

Off-shore fishing involves drifting or trolling with live or dead bait for such incredible fish as Sailfish, Wahoo, Dolphin, Tuna and the occasional Marlin.  When these guys are not biting, there is opportunity for Bonita and Mackerel.

The Sailfish was chosen by Florida to represent the awesome sportfish of the state in 1979.  Popularized by author Zane Grey decades earlier, the speed of this fish in and out of the water is a huge part of its popularity.  Capable of high aerial ascents, the Sailfish challenges anglers to keep a tight line. Boating a Sailfish is often the fulfillment of a lifetime dream!
